Volunteering is a crucial part of the work done by NGOs. Here at KIND, we work hard to ensure that children and families-in-need have every opportunity to improve their situation and to achieve their dreams. And this work would not be possible without the tireless work and generosity of our amazing volunteers!

Kind Care Fair.jpg

Nickisha McClean Parris

My name is Nickisha McClean Parris and volunteering at Kids In Need of Direction (KIND) has been an eye-opening experience for me. No stranger to volunteerism, the concept was not lost to me and I had heard of the organization previously. At the beginning of 2018, I signed up with VCTT (Volunteer Centre of Trinidad and Tobago) and from there got involved in various projects they partnered in.

The opportunity to ‘get involved’ with KIND came up with the KIND Care Fair, a Health Fair aimed at the young children who are clients of KIND and some from the surrounding neighbourhood. I can say that it was refreshing to see participation from so many corporate entities and government organizations. Also, in my past experiences volunteering usually meant a few people involved in super-human feats to get things done. The event was well organized and due care and attention were shown to all. For me, therefore, the decision was clear in that I would be open to continuing my association with KIND.

Since then, once a need arose I have made myself available secure in the knowledge that the aims of the organization were being carried out in the best possible way with the guidance of the amazing team that they work with.
